For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV)

Suppose you have three pieces of one thousand peso bill. The first 1000 peso bill is crisp; the second one is crumpled; and, the last is almost torn apart. You do not think that each of them has a different value because of how they look. They cannot be devalued however they may appear to somebody else. In the same sense, our God values us so much. Before, we were sinners, spiritually dead. We fell short of the glorious standard of God, but now, we are made holy, born anew, and God’s object of love and mercy. Being His workmanship, we are compared to a big block of marble quarried from the mountains. He carefully used a chisel and different carving tools to reveal the image, which our Creator beforehand pictured in His mind. Our hope, faith, and love – together with the different gifts of the Holy Spirit we receive from Him to minister to one another, plus the trials and challenges in our daily lives – are the tools and processes that form us into His perfect image. Like the 1000 peso bills, we may be crumpled or torn apart at times, but we are made new in Christ. We remain dear to Him as His special treasure. Our value remains the same. We may have defects and imperfections, but the Spirit of God fills our shortcomings and makes us perfect. So when we fully surrender and submit ourselves to Him, we may become His masterpiece.
