For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. (Mark 9:41 NKJV)
Man may survive without food for 3 weeks but will not last without water. About sixty per cent of our body is water. Our organs need water to properly function. Water is essential to life. A cup of water may cost nothing to us but to a thirsty person it costs a lot for it may save him or at the least give him comfort. There is a moral lesson to this. A little kindness goes a long way. A hug eases the pain of a lonely heart. A word of comfort renews the strength of a weary mind. A prayer for a sick person may bring healing from the Lord. Our small acts of goodwill cost us nothing but they are invaluable for the recipients. The motive is herein clearly stated. Do it in the name of Jesus Christ. Do everything to please Christ because we are called to follow His footsteps of loving and caring. Our righteous acts, though done to a fellow man, glorify Christ. A righteous man is rewarded righteously by a righteous God. Certainly your reward shall be great in heaven.
