Besides what I see, You teach me; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more. (Job 34:32 MKJV)
Old habits die hard. Man cannot change and do what is right by their own power and work. Prophet Jeremiah stated this reality: Ethiopians cannot change the color of their skin and leopards cannot remove their spots – in the same way that we cannot be good by our own works and power. We can only be good when we submit ourselves to God. People say that they have to be good first to serve God, before they go to church. This is wrong. You cannot be good without God. You must have God to become good because God is good. You will only fail if you do it yourself. We need our Teacher, our Master, who can teach us the way of righteousness. We need to apply the put off and put on rule. If we desire to put something off ourselves, we are to put something on to replace it. Instead of boasting, be humble. To put rebellion off, put submission on; to put covetousness off, put-on contentment. Let us ask God to give us the wisdom to recognize precisely what we need to transform. By His teachings, we can achieve the renewing of our mind. In conclusion, put the old self off, who previously followed the ways of this world and obeyed the devil, and put the new self on, which is created in God’s likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy.
