He who has a generous eye will be blessed,
For he gives of his bread to the poor. (Proverbs 22:9 NKJV)

There is an adage that the eyes are the window to our soul. When the eyes are good, we can clearly see things and appreciate things correctly. When the eyes are bad, our vision is blurred – even worse is when we are totally blind and everything becomes dark. A generous eye refers to the condition of our soul which resides in our heart. With a generous eye, we can see a heart full of compassion and kindness towards those who are in need. The heart dictates the hand to generously give help to the needy. Generous giving is not measured by the amount given but by the motivation in giving. One may give aplenty but be considered as lesser or of no value because it is done without love and compassion. Another may give less but be highly appreciated because they gave with a sincere heart. When we give out of love, we shall be blessed. Is it not true that we are happy if we are able to help someone in need? The best reward for a generous eye is the inner joy we get from doing so. It is the joy that Christ had when He generously gave Himself for us. Christ can bless us more if we bless others with what we have. He will do this so that we can give more. Remember, heaven is full of His riches and glory for our inheritance. Let us thank the Lord who blesses us. In return, let us glorify Him and be the channel of blessings to others.
