Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That’s why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen. (2 Corinthians 4:18 CEV)
There is a certain truth that is always forgotten. That the things seen are temporal, they do not last. There are also things which are unseen. They are eternal, true and spiritual. We are reminded to give more importance to the things seen only by the eyes of faith rather than the things seen by the physical eyes. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. We see the invisible God through faith. We hope for God’s promises of paradise in heaven and true life eternal through faith. The joy given by the heavenly things lasts forever and is the object of our enduring pursuit. Hell, the eternal separation from God, is a thing we should remember to avoid. Sin causes our soul to die in hell. Living in the righteousness of God ensures us of heaven. Brethren, though we live in a physical world wherein we use our senses–we touch, smell, see, hear and taste—we should remember that not all of these things are true. What you see is what you get. They fade, they last. See not with your bare eyes but with your heart, the eyes of your soul. Walk by faith not by sight. Seek to see the invisible things of God.
