But if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content (satisfied). (1 Timothy 6:8 AMP)
People who found happiness in life are those who are contented with what they have. Real contentment can only be found in the Lord. If you meditate on His words and promises, you will realize that He will never make you feel lacking of anything as long as you live by His teachings. Completeness is all you will feel for you have God on your side. Just like the early Christians, they lacked many material things; they were even persecuted but their service to God waged on. Although they were removed of their properties, freedom, and rights, they enjoyed following the teachings of Christ for they know and feel that God will never fail to satisfy their needs. So even if you have to give up your material possessions just to remain in service to God please do so and do not be afraid for God, will replace them. As long as we have God in life, we will not lose anything, but we will certainly gain everything.
