Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with a lot. Whoever is dishonest with very little is dishonest with a lot. (Luke 16:10 GW)
God gives us gifts of the spirit which we can use to perform our duties according to His purpose. We are stewards of these gifts. In our own human eyes, gifts can be either great or small. It depends on the appreciation of each of us. In the eyes of God, there is no small or great gift. He sees them as equally important. Thus, He expects that they be used for His purpose, principally for His glory. Small gifts can be used to give greater glory for the Lord. Likewise, greater gifts can give the least glory or none at all. In time we shall give an account to God who trusted us with these gifts. If we are faithful in small gifts, we shall be given greater gifts, and if we are unfaithful in greater gifts, they shall be taken away from us. Gifts are also given for our enjoyment. For example, material wealth is of lesser value than the spiritual. If we use our material wealth faithfully for God’s glory, greater gifts will be entrusted to us and these are spiritual wealth. Between material and spiritual, the latter is more valuable and gives greater satisfaction than the former. Strive to have riches in heaven rather than the riches of the world.
