The wicked man does deceptive work,
But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. (Proverbs 11:18 NKJV)

Do you remember the story of the selfish and clumsy monkey and the clever and well behaved turtle? In the story, they saw a banana tree in a riverside. They decided to get the banana tree and both agreed to divide it in half so they can each have something to plant. The monkey took the upper half, thinking it would grow faster and will bear fruit earlier, while the lower part that belonged to the turtle will soon die being without leaves. His selfish and greedy mind led him to take the tricky shortcut. Finally, the lower part with the roots planted by the turtle grew and bore fruits, while the upper part died. The monkey thought he was wiser when in truth, he is foolish, treacherous, and dishonest. The story ends when the turtle came out to be a lot wiser than the monkey. From here, we can learn a life lesson: be truthful and never be deceitful. Do not desire for unreliable quick-fixes. The consequences might be worse and our labor will end in vain. Do not intend to get ahead of the others by pulling them down, which we call “Crab Mentality.” Sometimes, we make it look like we are the ones who are hurt the most when in fact, we are the ones who inflict harm to others. Be fair, righteous, and honest. The reward may seem too far and long to achieve, but surely, we will have it in time. Good things come to good men.
