The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. (Psalms 34:22 NKJV)

God is omniscient – He knows everything. There is no way that He can be surprised by anything that happens in the world and the whole creation. He does not act based on what we do, where we go, when we act, and why we do things. During the Exodus from Egypt, God has already prepared everything the Israelites will need. He set up the perfect road map for them to reach the promise land. However, the Israelites transgressed God’s commands and doubted Him and their leader, Moses. Because of their unbelief and transgression, they wandered in the desert for 40 years when it was only an eleven day journey! Even then, God’s grace was with them. He provided them streams of water in the desert and even drank fresh water from the rock to satisfy their thirst. He also provided quails and manna to eat. God served as their light at night and pillar of cloud during the day, to lead and protect them in their journey. What God did to save us is even greater. He came in the flesh and suffered as we did in the world. He redeemed and delivered us from the bondage of sin in this world. He gave Himself as the bread from heaven and the living water to give us life. He also protects us from the snares of Satan and his cohorts in our journey towards heaven. He is our light and the rock of our salvation. Unlike the Israelites, let us trust God totally. If we do, we shall inherit the earth and heaven. Note that those Israelites who did not trust the Lord were not able to reach Canaan, the promised land flowing with milk and honey.
