My son,’ the father said, ‘You are always with me, and everything I have is yours. (Luke 15:31)
Abba, our loving Father, You taught us the parable of the Prodigal Son. Firstly, Lord, we pray that You forgive our sins just as the father forgave his prodigal son. May we not squander our inheritance in wild living. You have given us our portion of the blessings of material, physical, and spiritual wealth as Your children. May we use or spend them wisely and invest them to gain eternal life for ourselves. Secondly, Lord, we pray that You give us also a forgiving heart for an erring brother or sister. If we do not forgive, we are not entitled for Your forgiveness. Please remove in our heart and mind the spirit of jealousy and self-pity. May our heart bear compassion and mercy for our lost brothers and sisters, they who have “died” but are alive again because of Your grace and merciful love. Thirdly, Lord, may we find enjoyment in Your presence, which is the greatest wealth we can ever have. May we know You more as our Father whose love for us is everlasting. May we also love You until eternity, be with You forever to enjoy You, and be blessed with all the richness of heaven as our inheritance. This is our hope, our prayer in Your name. Amen.
