Put yourself now in a right relation with him and be at peace: so will you do well in your undertakings. (Job 22:21 BBE)
God is love. Since the beginning, He wanted man to have an intimate relationship with Him. Adam and Eve walked with God intimately in the Garden of Eden until they preferred to listen and do Satan’s will. God also wanted to have a close relationship with Israel. Several times did God try to restore the relationship with them but Israel ignored God and preferred to be separated from God. He had a Covenant of Love with Abraham and his descendants. He came to save His chosen people, His Most Holy Church, and made her His Bride. All that God wanted is a relationship with His people which will last not only in this lifetime but eternally in Heaven. We have a relationship with God when we love Him. Loving Him means obeying His will. If we sin against God, we are breaking His trust and our relationship with Him becomes sour. If we maintain a loving relationship with God, we are at peace with Him; we have His favor and we are assured of His blessings; we have peace in our hearts that leads to genuine happiness. Love God and be happy.
