“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:14 CEV)

Life is like a fountain. A fountain is the emblem of motion, not of rest. Its column rises upward, but because of the strong gravity of the earth, it is dragged down. This happens in our daily life on earth. We eat; we drink. We work; we play. We sleep; we wake up. We do this and that; we keep doing things over and over again and we feel exhausted of the restless cycle of earthly life. Salomon says: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” The fountain of water that Jesus offers us is “a fountain springing up into everlasting life.” It is Godward, heavenward, homeward bound. Desire a life that reaches its goal, a life in which all your desires are satisfied, a life that is full of joyous energy. Open your heart to the gift that Christ offers you: the gift of Himself; He is the water of Life. He offered all the fullness of His grace to this Samaritan woman. He offers it to you now. Do you hear the sweet voice of Jesus in your heart? What will be your response? When He says to you, “The water that I shall give will be in you a fountain springing into everlasting life,” I pray that your answer would be the same with the Samaritan woman, “Lord, give me this water, so that I may not thirst nor keep coming over to this place to draw water.”
