Gold Dust No. 344

So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another. (Romans 14:19 ASV)

In simple terms Christians are taught to live first for God, second for others, and third for self. This is in accordance with the commandments to love God first, then our neighbors and then self. We are to regard others first before us. But this is not how the worldly lives. Man is motivated by self-interests. They want to be ahead of others in every way, in wealth, health, knowledge, power and fame. As we see, this results to conflicts, destruction, hardships, sadness and troubles in the world. But these should not be so in the Most Holy Church because we  each are members of God’s family. God is a god of peace and order, not of hatred and chaos. Each of us must put away anything that will cause division or conflicts. We must make every effort to maintain peace and harmony in our dealings with each other. To pursue peace is for all of us to live a life of Agape. In our hearts, there must be abundant understanding, forgiveness, compassion and care for each brother and sister. I tell you that if you do this, you will be the first to be happier and stronger in faith before the ones you are doing it to. What a strong and united Church we shall be if everyone loves each other and serve one another. Our aim should be to edify the Body of Christ. To do that is to strive to make peace not war.
