You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32 CEV)
The truth is our Lord Jesus Christ, the only way to complete freedom and for us to enjoy life forever. Freedom is what everybody wants. It is a life without guilt due to sin. It is a sinless life. A holy life is true freedom. Freedom that people know is not true and real. This freedom is anchored on things they enjoy temporarily. In the end, they will be destroyed. Examples are habits, freedom to enjoy anything one wants as in drugs and alcohol addiction, sexual freedom, etc. These are not freedom, instead they enslave people and lead them to death. They have the power that comes from the father of lies, Satan. So if you are a slave of sin, you are a slave of Satan. Paul says, “What a wretched man I am! Who can deliver me from the power of sin?” Only our Lord Jesus can free us! And, indeed, we are free from sins. We now live a new life in Christ. We are made holy and elected as children of God. You and I have the power to overcome sin and Satan. Indeed, we are free because of Christ. Let us value the freedom we have and be thankful in praise to our Liberator, our Jesus Christ.
