Brothers and sisters don’t think like children. When it comes to evil, be like babies, but think like mature people. (1 Corinthians 14:20 GW)
We are born again and are new creations in Christ to do good works which God prepared for us since the beginning. In the beginning, God created man according to His image, holy and pure. Man was deceived and fell from sins. All men sin and fall short of the glory of God. God is merciful that He came as a man to deliver us from the penalty of sins. He redeemed us and chose us to be His children. We cannot save ourselves. Only God, Jesus Christ, can save us. He gave His life to give us life. As children of God, we are to mature. We cannot stay as babies. Babies are perfect in that stage of growth. Babies are abnormal if at the stage of adulthood they remain as babies, physically and mentally. It is the same spiritually. As children of God, we have to mature. Here we are taught to remain as babies in the purity of our hearts, humble and submissive to the parents. They are so dependent on their parents. However, we are to be mature, able to serve than be served. We have to fight for our faith. On our own we cannot reach perfection. Indeed, the Holy Spirit can give us the power and the wisdom to live godly unto the perfect image of Christ. This should be our personal goal, to grow and to increase spiritually.
