But happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God. (Psalms 146:5 NLT)
When Israel was oppressed in Egypt, they cried for help every single night to the God of their forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God heard them and delivered them from Egypt by inflicting the Egyptians with ten plaques until Pharaoh released them. With the mighty hand of God, the Red Sea was separated, paving the way of Israel’s escape and the death of thousands of Egyptian soldiers who pursued them. Finally, they were liberated after 430 years of bondage. With Moses as their leader, they travelled and wandered in the wilderness towards the Promise Land, Canaan, for 40 years. All those years they were provided for their needs. God was their light in the night and their shield in the day. Finally they arrived in Canaan to enjoy the blessed life which God promised.
