Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. (Proverbs 19:20 ESV)

Wisdom is acquired through years of experience. It is through trial and error that we learn. Most people learn life from the School of Hard Knocks—in hard and painful ways. It takes a lifetime to learn and gain wisdom this way. Unfortunately, most people leave this world without the true knowledge of life itself. There is a better way to gain wisdom. That is to listen to people who have the experience and went through much in life. A fool lives and depends only on his own limited knowledge. The wise, however, seeks to learn more. He listens to wise counsels and obeys instructions coming from knowledgeable people. The best way to gain wisdom is to listen and live by the words of God. He is our Maker and knows who we are. He knows what is best for us. Let us not waste our time learning by trial and error. Life is too short. Be prepared for the future by learning from the Lord. You can act and react wisely in whatever situation you go through in life because you listen to the fountain of knowledge, the source of life, none other than the Most High God.
