Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. (Matthew 6:22 NLT)

We need to focus on Christ in order to do our duties faithfully for His glory. He is in heaven and we have to look up to heaven. If we want to reach heaven, then we should strive to reflect Christ perfectly in our lives. We have to be holy and achieve His perfect image. Using our physical eyes, we get to where we want to go. But notice that we have to have focus, a single vision or one motive. Otherwise we will be swayed by things around us and take other paths and in the end, reaching nowhere. In the same way, we need to have a single motive in doing our duties. Our motive in doing our best and striving for perfection is not to be saved for we are already saved. We have been chosen, sanctified and justified. It must be to give glory to God, our Lord Jesus Christ. We do our duty in the light of this motivation. We love God so much that we obey Him and serve Him. Loving God means being loyal to Him, like a wife to her husband. We are, as a Church, the bride of Christ. When He comes, we must be ready to say, “I do“, and then live with Him happily ever after. Now we have to prepare for His coming. We have to be a perfect Bride to a perfect Groom, holy, unblemished and Most Holy.
