What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature.(Galatians 5:16 GNB)
When God created men from the dust of the earth, He breathed life into us and we became living souls. The natural man is a living soul and not of the flesh; our higher being is the spirit. Therefore, what is natural is for our spirit to dominate the flesh rather than the flesh dominating the spirit. It is natural for us to walk upright, with our head up, rather our head on the ground, which is awkward. So we must strive to walk in the spirit and not bow down to the desires of the flesh. The only way to do it is to be spirit-filled. For us to be filled with the spirit, we have to walk with Christ. We aim to walk along righteous paths with the power which Christ bestows in us. Walking with Christ means to be directed and led by Him. We have to follow His footsteps of holiness and righteousness. If we direct our efforts in obeying Christ and doing our Christian duties, we can avoid evil. We do not have to fight evil in the first place if we flee from it. If we have to confront it, then face it boldly with the strength from Christ. Fight evil in His name and evil will flee from us.
