“There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9 NKJV)

Like Joseph, oftentimes, we are assaulted by the pleasures of the seductive beauty of this world. Potiphar’s wife is beautiful, but her heart is set to do evil: to captivate Joseph and to make him sin. She is like Satan, with his dark intentions. Satan is ceaseless in attempting to tease us day by day to be insincere and to make us sin against God.

Like Joseph, we are honored by God. Like him, we do not barter this great honor of being stewards of God’s treasures in Heavens with the beauty of the fleshly worldly. Joseph’s love for his master and the trust he gained from him are the things he values and are enough of a reason for him to refuse the offer of this treacherous woman. More than that, he knew that what he became in the house of Potiphar is God’s favor and blessing. It is what he values the most. That is why he said it is a great wickedness against God to be tempted. Like Joseph, flee from sin. SIN IS AGAINST GOD. Those who love God and respect God hate sin.
