Those who go out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them. (Psalms 126:6 NIV)

The parable of the talents teaches that we have to invest in order to profit. The risk involved is far outweighed by the benefit we gain. God is honored and pleased when the talents He gave us bear fruits for His glory. He hates it if He is not glorified because we are afraid to take the risk. The risk we take is a calculated risk simply because if we do the planting and the watering, God will certainly make it grow. He who loves his life will lose it, but he who gives his life for Christ’s sake shall gain eternal life. This is an established law since the beginning of creation. He who keeps the seed should not expect to reap anything, for God does not have anything to grow, but if we open our hands and sow seeds, we can expect a harvest in due time. The more seeds we sow, the more harvest we gain. A single seed will produce abundant harvest. It is better to sow than to build. If we build something, soon it will be destroyed and decay, incapable of lasting forever. If we sow, we are trusting God that He will grow and increase it and will continue to increase it, as He promised. So what would it be? Build or sow? Sow good deeds and it will return to you in abundance. Plant the seeds of truth and it will grow into faith just like a little mustard seed which can grow to a tree. Give for the works of God generously and He will return to you pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
