In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:3 NIV)
We are accustomed to pray every night before we sleep and, in the morning, when we wake up – to thank God for keeping us from harm, bad elements, accidents, and sudden death; and, to pray for good things. In the morning, we pray for God’s blessing that will keep us from all kinds of evil and wickedness, as we go on the day ahead. We also pray for His compassion as it is written, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness…” Morning prayers are the right time for us to receive the blessings of the Lord and to find peace with people we will encounter. This way, the day God has given will be a blessed day, filled with compassion and blessings. Again, we will pray to the Lord at night to thank Him for the fulfillment with the day that passed and to ask Him to make us more fulfilled, only for His praise and glory.
