Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.” But Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you.” (Judges 8:22-23 NKJV)

If you are a servant of God, you should know who you are and where your place is before God, that is: A SERVANT. You are just an instrument who God uses to accomplish His purpose. If you succeed in doing His purpose, be humble enough to say, “I am just an instrument. I just did what I had to do as a servant of the Most High God.” Even if others commend you for the success you achieve, do not let pride creep into your head and into your heart. Pray and give thanks to the Lord. Give Him all the glory. If you will be proud, He will bring you down, but if you humble yourself before Him, He will use you for greater purpose. That was what Gideon did. He knew that God is the ruler. God wanted everyone to recognize Him as the Lord of their lives. So be it. Let God be God. Let Him rule over you and me. Let Christ be the head of His Church and King of all nations.
