Gold Dust No. 320

For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard. Then we won’t drift away from the truth.  (Hebrews 2:1 GW)

Every time our mother calls out that dinner is ready, wherever we are in our house, we excitedly make our way towards the dining table and prepare to eat. While we are eating, we relish the taste of whatever we are eating because we know it will give us satisfaction and joy. The words of God are the food for our souls. Like the tongue that tastes food, our ear tests the words we hear. So, do you feel excited whenever the days of worship are approaching? For those are the times your soul can eat its food. Whenever you listen to sermons, do you focus on listening? How much attention are you giving to the things you here during service worships? Falling asleep while in the service worship is as awkward and embarrassing as falling asleep while on the dining table. So give your full attention in listening to the Gospel. Savor and relish the taste of the words of God, for the happiness and satisfaction it can give is not like the food that spoils. It can give you happiness and satisfaction that will flow up to the eternal life.
