Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. (Ephesians 5:18 NLT)

Drunkenness is a sin. Apostle Paul instructs Christians to avoid drunkenness as it alludes to gentile worship of the god of wine, Dionysius. Drunkenness means you are under the influence of alcoholic beverage. You are filled with and under the control of the spirit of the gentile god. We should allow the spirit of the true God fill our lives. First, the boat sails because the force of the wind fills its sail and moves the boat. Let the power of the Holy Spirit move us and not depend on our own strength. Second, milk is filled with cream or a cup of coffee is filled with milk. Milk or cream becomes part of coffee in a homogenous way. They become as one. We should be united with the Holy Spirit. God dwells in us and us in Him. However, the Holy Spirit must dominate and influence us. Third, one should swim with or along the direction of the current or he will drown. We should allow the Holy Spirit control us. Our way of life should be in accordance with the Spirit of God. We should allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. We should submit ourselves to it. Be a Spirit-filled Christian.
