Let Us Pray No. 178

“Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have purposed to make my steps stumble.” Psalms 140:4

Abba, Lord God, the devil is like a roaring lion who is waiting to make us his prey. He and his angels have prepared traps along our paths so that they can capture and make us their slaves. They intend to destroy our faith in you, steal our inheritance as your children and finally make us slaves of their wickedness and thrust us into the hell of fire. But you oh Lord is our Good Shepherd. You watch over us to protect us from evil. You also lead us to green pastures and still waters to satisfy and nourish our souls. Lord, we wander in the world full of deception, temptations, of chaos and people whose hearts are evil. Thanks to you, Lord, that you have given us the wisdom to distinguish good from evil, the strength to fight for our faith and your spirit to give us comfort, joy and patience to continue our journey towards the perfection of holiness. As we strive to be holy, the more the enemies try to pin us down. But we wrestle against them, knowing that we can overcome. We are confident that we shall triumph over them. Our confidence is in you. Lord, you promised to be with us in this fight until we defeat the last enemy which death. The power of death will not prevail against us. It is your faithful promise and we fully believe in you. Amen
