Let Us Pray No. 117

  • April 27, 2017

“For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” Psalms 5:12

Abba, our heavenly Father, you are not a God who is pleased with evil. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes. As for us, we will worship you and bow down to you in reverence and in humbleness of the mind and heart. In your tender mercies, we beseech you to purify our spirits and souls and make us vessels of your righteous words to enable us not to walk on our own counsel but to yours. We know, Lord, that stubbornness and self-righteousness surely lead to destitution and misery. That is why we choose to submit our mind and whole being under your authority. Lord, enable us to gain wisdom not from what we see around us but from what is holy, righteous and acceptable in your sight. And from the least expected that we might face throughout the day, in the hour of trouble and danger, your love will be our best defense. You, oh Lord, are the one who will cover us to make us safe all day and all night. Amen.
