As Disciples of Christ, we are to imitate Christ. He has taught us to live a life of love and humility. Just as He was crucified, meek as a lamb, so are we with those who persecute us. We are to love one another. But our difficult test as Disciples is to love our enemies. The proverbial saying is this: If someone slaps you on one cheek, give him the other. It is not being a fool, rather, being patient and long-suffering, instead of being angry and falling in sin. Know that God looks after our welfare. He will not let the sinner escape from His judgment. Vengeance is His. Do not lift even a single finger against our enemies. God will fight for us.
