If you love me, obey my commandments. (John 14:15 NLT)
Abba, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, you love us with everlasting love. You have proven your love in the greatest way possible when you came down from your throne in heaven, assumed a human nature and died on the cross to save us. You want us to go to heaven and be with you forever. The only way is through you. We have to follow your footsteps. We should walk your walk, speak your words and be transformed into your likeness. Your love is powerful that we cannot do anything but love you in return. But Lord, how do we love you? How much should we love you? We love you not by our words alone but by deeds. The only proof is our obedience to your commands. Lord, servants obey their masters because of the fear of punishments when they fail to comply according to the command. Others obey because of the rewards or payment for their obedience as workers. Still others, obey because they want to please him who gives the command. You took the role of the Son of God. You showed us how and how much we should love you. We should do nothing except those which we learn from you and speak those which we hear from you. We do nothing on our own will but your will. If we do your will, we can do greater things in our lives. We should humbly obey you, Lord, even to the point of death. Faithfulness is what you require for us whom you love so much. Lord, may we love you and obey faithfully and sincerely. May we prove our love for you all the days of our life. Amen.
