He defended the cause of the poor and needy. Everything went well for him. Isn’t this what it means to know me?” asks the LORD. (Jeremiah 22:16 GW)
The poor and the needy shall not cease in the land. The poor depends on God’s justice and mercy. They trust God for all their needs. God is their protection and salvation. They are expected to support the rich with their talents and strength by working for them. The rich are stewards of God’s blessings. They can enjoy the blessings they receive from God so that they may worship and offer sacrifices of thanksgiving to Him. Also, they are expected to care, help and support the poor while they labor for them. The rich and the poor are equal in the bar of God’s justice and mercy. Both the rich and the poor will receive the same promise of salvation and eternal life if they live righteously in the sight of God. If they live in sin, both will be punished in hell. God is love. We are His Disciples. Let us love one another, care, help and support one another. Church, rekindle the flame of brotherly love for the glory of the Most High God and in honor of the Most Holy Church!
