If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us. (2 Timothy 2:12 DRB)
We are of one body, the Church. The head of the body is Christ our Lord. He suffered to deliver us from being slaves of sins. We now enjoy this freedom to live a life of holiness. Know that we are called not only to be saved but also to suffer with Him. We suffer in doing what the spirit wants and not what the flesh wants. We also suffer in trials and tribulations for the perfection of our faith. We must also suffer in proclaiming the Kingdom of God. Just as Christ paid for our souls with sufferings and death, we must also suffer even until death as instruments of Christ in delivering the sinners and winning them for Christ. We proclaim His name to all men. If we deny Him, we shall be denied entrance to the New Jerusalem, the Holy City. Now we suffer for a little while, then we shall be glorified forever with Christ.
