And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:59-60 NKJV)

What are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of preaching the gospel or doing our God-given ministry? Are we ready to give even our lives just as what Stephen had done? Stephen had boldly and courageously preached the gospel, even to those who might be offended by the Lord’s teachings. He was faithful to his ministry. But how did he gladly face persecution while doing all of these? Being full of the Holy Spirit, as he looked up and gazed into heaven, he saw the glory of God, just before he was stoned to death. Truly, if we keep our eyes in heaven and let ourselves be filled with the Holy Spirit, no one from this world-not even sickness, troubles and death-will stop us from fulfilling our ministry. As we start this day, may our eyes be focused on the things that really matter and empty ourselves before the Lord so that the Holy Spirit can fill us.
