Be good to your servant, that I may live and obey your word. (Psalms 119:17 TPV)

Our God abounds with lovingkindness. He hears our prayers and fulfills them to give us joy. He wants us to be prayerful: to cast our anxieties to Him and ask for His blessings. God will give us all we need in due time, but there are times when He does not hear us. The question is not, “Why did God not hear our prayers?” – rather, “What is our ultimate reason for asking Him for blessings?” When He blesses our life with good things, what will we do with them? Will we just use them for our own enjoyment? Will we just use them for our own satisfaction? The best and most righteous reason to ask for blessings is our desire to have more resources to use in serving Him. We ask Him for life and strength – use these to do His will. We ask Him for stable income – let us give our Church contributions as our part in propagating the gospel, and let us return our tithes. We ask for healing when we are sick – let us use our recovery to glorify the Lord. Every prayer God fulfills is an opportunity for us to be more acceptable to Him. Let us love not the blessings we receive but God who gives us blessings.
