The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives. (Psalms 37:21 NKJV)

It is an ungodly habit to borrow money when one does not have the plan to pay back. It is also unreasonable to do it as an option of covering up our financial insufficiencies. We should try to avoid borrowing money as long as we can, except in critical situations, when there is someone hovering between life and death. What we are trying to prevent from borrowing is threatening our relationships – as brothers and sisters in the Church and our friendships. However, if ever we are the ones who are able to help, help those who really are in need, the poor ones. Do not wait for them to cry for help. Help them without hesitation, without expecting any reward from them or anyone. When we give or lend, do not announce it by making it known to many. “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” Dear brothers and sisters, owe no one anything except to love one another, for those who love another have fulfilled the law.
