For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:13 NKJV)
It is true that, “Justice without mercy is cruelty; mercy without justice is stupidity.” We should be like God – He is the God of mercy and also the God of justice. When He manifested in the flesh, He brought with Him both justice and mercy. All have sinned. The punishment for sin is death. We all deserved to be judged and the judgment for our sins is eternal death in the hell of fire. Instead, the everlasting God tasted death as payment for our sins. This is how merciful God was for us. Do you want to understand God’s justice? Reflect yourself at the cross! Do you want to understand God’s mercy? Reflect Jesus at the cross! The life we enjoy now as Christians were created by God’s justice and mercy. It is now our turn to extend and continue being instruments of God’s worldwide mission of saving pitiful and helpless souls. Being the Lord’s disciples, it will be injustice if we are not to show mercy to others. God blesses those people who are merciful. They will be treated with mercy!
