And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:8 NKJV)
Looking at the mirror, try to move to your left and you will note that you end up moving to your right. Move forward and you will not gain a distance. Every- thing is in reverse. The same can be said with our Chris- tian life. The way up is to go down. To receive is to give. To live is to die. To be blessed is to be a blessing to others. To be loved is to love. To become great is to serve. To be a leader is to be humble. Jesus Christ our Lord is the example of this principle. He is the Most High God who lives in the highest place in heaven. He decided in His sovereign will to save us in an excellent way. He came down to earth. He appeared as an ordinary man – not a king nor any known man but a carpenter. He went through the most difficult troubles, to a death which no man has experienced. If you consider His eternal glory and supreme holiness, comparing it to how He was humiliated in order to redeem us, you will somehow understand how much He sacrificed for us to be saved. That is how much He loved us. Jesus teaches us to not think as the world does. Let us practice what we learn in dealing with each other – be humble and put others first. Remember to be first, be the last. Serve to be great just like Jesus Christ our Lord.
