Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. (Hebrews 13:7 NKJV)

2Follow the leaders God called to guide us to become perfect children of God. Imitate their faith. They serve the Lord because of faith and not because of pay. Leading the people of God is no easy task. Moses, when called by God, tried to evade the call to lead Israel out of Egypt. He reasoned that he is not capable to lead the Israelites to freedom, that he has some defects and cannot speak well – but God’s decision prevailed. You see, God chooses those who are flawed to become leaders. David was a young shepherd who became king of Israel. The apostles were ordinary people who did miraculous works. Apostle Paul was a persecutor of the Church who became a good instrument of God in saving souls. God wanted them to lead so that His glory may be seen through them. We have to follow our leaders not because they are great, but because the Great God chose them to lead us.

For us to willingly and easily follow our leaders, we must understand their calling and appreciate how they lead us. Their calling entails a lot of sacrifices in performing their duties. We must remember their sacrifices. They have turned away from self-gratification and walked the hard path of self-sacrifice which others dare not travel. Sacrifices are not only experienced by your leaders but also by their families. So follow your leaders, their sacrifices, and their faith. Serve God in the same manner. Support and love them for us to benefit from their efforts.
