And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (Romans 8:17 NKJV)
Sinful people are happy people but only for a little while. Though their pride and power may reach the sky, after they have everything, distress and despair will strike them down. They will disappear like dust and those who knew them will wonder what happened. They will be forgotten like a dream. This is the inheritance of the wicked. The Lord’s people may suffer a lot, but He will always bring them safely through. Our journey to heaven is like giving birth. A woman has pain when her time to give birth comes. It feels like the pain would never leave her body, that the pain is permanent. After the child is born, she does not remember the pain anymore because she is happy that a child has been brought into the world. This is how we look towards the inheritance we are to receive. We are aware that our present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us. God will wipe away every tear from our eyes; there shall be no more death, sorrow, or crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. We will inherit the world during the Millennium. Likewise, we will inherit the Heavens and the greatest inheritance we will enjoy forever and ever: to delight in beauty of holiness of our Loving God.
