But Jeremiah said, “They shall not deliver you. Please, obey the voice of the Lord which I speak to you. So it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live. (Jeremiah 38:20 NKJV)

Our life can be characterized as full of hills and valleys, of cloudy and sunny skies, of stormy and calm seas, as we go through different times in our lives. We need not be surprised. Christ told us that in this world we shall have tribulations. The good news is we shall overcome. Fear may engulf our soul, but it should not last. We fear a lot of things. We fear what the future holds for us and our loved ones. We fear losing the people and things we value in life. We fear other people who may do us harm. We fear failure. We fear dreaded diseases. We fear death. Fear has developed only after the fall of men into sin. Fear is never inherent in us. Love takes away fear. It is the power which can overcome any kind of fear. There should only be one fear that we should have – fear in the Lord. If we fear God, we fear nothing. If we do not fear God, we fear everything. If we fear God, we obey His commands. We do His will and live by His counsels. The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge. We are confident in our daily walk. We are safe and therefore, we have peace. If we fear God, we shall enjoy our life now and rejoice in the life in heaven.
