Surely he says this for us, doesn’t he? Yes, this was written for us, because whoever plows and threshes should be able to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest. (1 Corinthians 9:10 NIV)
Why do we do what we do? It is because we are motivated by the prospect of gain that will benefit us. Our actions spring from our hope that we will enjoy the fruits of our labor. Our hope provide us the driving force to continue and be patient until our work is done, seeing that something good came out of our toil. Without this hope, we will not continue when we face obstacles along the way. We cannot do and accomplish our goals alone. We need partners to help and support us to achieve them. We both should work as a team, supporting and helping each other. This is amply pictured in the work of the ploughman and the thresher. They have different works. They should do their respective work diligently, with the same spirit and same hope. Our work is to cultivate and till the soil, the hearts of men, plant the seeds, which are the words of God, and care for them until they grow into faith. Faith becomes alive which bears fruit of godliness. Ministers cannot accomplish this goal unless there are Abiezers, who are God sent to help in the work. The same way the brethren should support the Ministers materially and spiritually for all to enjoy the fruits of the field. Have you done your share of the work in the vineyard of God? We are a team. Let us work together for the success of the mission.
