With my soul I have desired You in the night,
Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;
For when Your judgments are in the earth,
The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. (Isaiah 26:9 NKJV)
In times of sorrow and grief, we are enveloped in fear and anxiety. We will not be able to do God’s will or even please Him if we are imprisoned by our sadness. We ask ourselves why these things happen to us. Like the Israelites in the kingdom of Babylon. They are in discomfort due to persecutions. They cannot comfortably serve and worship God in that place. They were pressed from all sides that they cannot even sing psalms to praise the Lord. Despite their difficult situation, they did not turn away from serving the Lord. Let their hardships be an example to us. We do not experience that kind of hardships due to the loving-kindness of the Lord who guides us. If we ever go through difficulties and distress in this world, the Lord is beside us and He will comfort, bless, and help us. And for our trust to remain in the Lord, let us live by His commandments, teachings, and rules. If we ever violate them, the Lord will punish us until we find our way back to His commandments. So, we can live in peace and He will bless us in all the days of our journey in this world.
