Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say. (Philemon 1:21 NKJV)
Baptism is the first commandment we obeyed as proof of our willingness to follow Christ. It is also our public declaration or confession that we surrender ourselves to Him as our Lord and Savor. We sincerely believe that Christ died for us and elected us for adoption as His beloved children. We love Him in return. Or love for Him moves us to willingly, wholeheartedly, faithfully obey Him. We aim to do more abundantly than what He asks us to do. We want the Lord to be glad in our service. We want Him best glorified by our obedience. It is an opportunity and privilege that He placed us in His service and as instruments to glorify Him and show His manifold power and wisdom.
