That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:7 NKJV)

The genuineness of gold is tested by exposing it to fire. Like our faith, it should be tested to see until when we are going to hold on being God’s servant. Are we just servants when we are experiencing prosperity and will stop being a servant when we experience famine? Or is it the other way around? Are we just servants because we need something from God and we will leave Him once we receive what we asked for? A true believer holds on to his faith no matter what circumstance he may be into. He will remain a loyal servant in sickness and in health, in richness and poverty just like Job. Job lost 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 pairs of cows, 500 female donkeys, a mansion-like house, 7 sons and 3 daughters in just a single day. He even had a very rare disease that gave him a lot of pain. All happened to test his faith and loyalty to God. As we all know, Job stood firm in his faith and proved his loyalty to God because for him, he was born without any belongings and shall die without any. It is God who gave him everything and it is God who has the right to take away everything. We should also be loyal and faithful like as Job. We cannot bring gold and all the wealth of this world with us once we die. Our faith, if we hold firmly to it, will bring us to a better life which is the everlasting life in heaven. Do not give our faith away in exchange of anything from this world.
