And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws. (Genesis 26:4-5 NKJV)
Isaac is now the heir of the promise given by God to his father, Abraham. Isaac knew in his heart how his father obeyed God without any reservation. it definitely penetrated his heart, mind, and soul when he was about to be slain and offered to God in Mount Moriah. God is now confirming the same promise, that from him will be formed a great nation and all the nations will be blessed through him. What followed was the fulfillment of the great eternal plan of God. The seed literally and spiritually points to Jesus Christ the seed of Abraham. Now in the last days, we are the chosen, foreordained seed of Abraham for we are in Christ Jesus. As such, we are the heir of His promise. The Church shall multiply to a great number. In my heart, physical Israel fulfills the promise that they will multiply as many as the sand on earth. On the other hand, the Church will be the fulfillment of the promise that they will be multiplied as the stars of heaven. It is the spiritual Israel being referred to–not physically or earthly, but divine and heavenly. Brethren, the Lord God is fulfilling His promise in us. Like them, let us obey God, hear His voice, and make His commission the sole purpose of our existence. Ultimately, we shall receive God’s promised blessings here and for all eternity.
