Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. (Psalms 139:4 NIV)
Even before we say something, while we are still framing the idea in our minds, God already knows all of them. He knows our intentions, the circumstances that are leading our thoughts, and the cause of our desire to say them are known to God. That is why we need to have an upright spirit to guide our hearts, minds, and lips – so that we do not utter things that are not pleasing to God. In prayer, God knows the desires of our hearts, and He answers them even before we open our lips. That is how much God hears, feels, and knows us. He minds us and enjoys granting our prayers, provided that these are sincere, upright, and for His glory. Say your prayers now. God is listening.
