I will still be the same when you are old and gray, and I will take care of you. I created you. I will carry you and always keep you safe. (Isaiah 46:4 CEV)
God’s love and affection for us is expressed and pictured in the famous and wonderful poem “Footprints in the Sand”. It says that during our walk in this life, God promised to walk with us to support and protect us. However, there were times when there were two sets of footprints in the sand and times when there was only one pair. Could it be that God is not true to His promises? Is He with us only during times of happiness and success? Does He leave us alone in times of troubles, sufferings, and defeats? If we ask God why there was only a pair of footprints in the sand during our trying times, we hear God says, “My beloved, child, I will never leave you. I am a faithful God. My love for you stays especially in your most difficult times. Nothing can separate you from my love, even death.” We ask again, “So why is there only a pair of footprints?” His loving voice says, “Those were my footprints, not yours. During those times I carried you otherwise, you will stumble and fall.” Great God, please do not leave us in our walk in life. With you, we will not only survive, but will be more than overcomers!
