Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the saving power your souls. (James 1:21 NRSV)
We have received the Words of God through the Church, which transformed us from being sinners to saints. We are now new creations in Christ designed to live righteously before God and men. We are the spiritual temple of God: He lives in us. As Children of God created after His image, we are to discard our old selves. Sin will infect our souls which will make us weak and sick in spirit until finally we will die because of sin. As temples of God, we are dedicated for the worship of God. Since God is holy, we are supposed to be holy for we are His dwelling place. We are to separate ourselves from the manner that the worldly lives. They live in disobedience to God, forgetting that He is the reason for their existence. Let us put away uncleanly works, thoughts, and words. Rather, let us faithfully keep the words of God in true worship and servitude. In doing so, our faith will not be in vain, but it will have effectual saving power: saving us from evil, and temptations. United in faith and spirit, we unite today in true worship to our Lord Jesus Christ.
