Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. (1 Corinthians 8:9 NIV)
The truth shall set you free! It is not the kind of truth based on what you know. It is based on what God knows. The “truth” is the righteousness of God and not our self-righteousness. The righteousness of God gives us the freedom to be children of God and heirs of His Kingdom. We are slaves no more to the desires of the flesh and no longer blinded by the lies of Satan. Let us enjoy the freedom Christ has given us. However, in doing so, we should be careful not to offend, hurt, nor push anybody away from Christ and the Church. Rather, use your freedom to edify the brethren and the Church as a whole. Refrain from being like the Pharisee who prays, “Lord, I am not like others who have sinful mind, lips and heart. Punish those who sin against me for I am righteous.” Instead, say what is true, “Lord I am a sinner. You know my heart, seen my ways and heard my voice. Please forgive me for I repent. Let me have the strength to change my ways. I say ‘Amen”. You shall be forgiven and be released from the hurt, the lies and the brokenness of heart. Praise our Forgiving God today.
