Situation Report Amid The Covid-19 Pandemic
By: Sis. Ananaiah (Azel Borja)
Due to an outbreak of a pandemic disease which is known as Covid-19, many countries around the world were shaken and bothered that they immediately responded to the situation by putting their countries under total lockdown to stop, if not, prevent the increase in numbers of affected cases. Just like other countries, the National Government of the Philippines imposed an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) throughout Luzon that strictly prohibits any mass gathering in the entire region and penalizes whoever breaks the regulation.
Several areas in Visayas and Mindanao have also been placed under ECQ –by the discretion of their local government units (LGUs) –to support the national government in apprehending the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country.
Despite this, the administration of the Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus didn’t stop to think of ways on how to reach the brethren not only in the Philippines but also brethren abroad. With the help of God, the Church’s Administration extends its efforts by utilizing technology and social media to hold Online Worship Services to spread the words of God and to bring the brethren together during this pandemic.
Brethren from Pastulan Alleluia (Marikina City, North Caloocan & Rizal Province), like every other Pastulan comprising the whole Church, held services in the households of the brethren instead of the regular worship services held in chapels or houses of worship. Every Thursday and Sunday, bethel or family members sit together to listen, watch, and follow online worship programs (in courtesy of the MHC Media) inside their homes.
In some cases, ministers and preachers per district are designated to visit every home near and around their areas (if possible) to conduct live bethel services. Choir members inside the family are still wearing their “togas” or choir uniforms during worship services to perform their ministries and sing praises to the Lord. Coordination and discussions are also done online thru the help of social media.
Moreover, every bethel is conducting “Sikap Mishal” or the Seven Prayers done every three hours per day to give thanks and ask God for continuous guidance and support to the whole Church during this pandemic.
In the face of this calamity, the brethren should know better that all these are part of God’s plan so the prophecies can come true. We should not worry and never doubt God for this is just a start and this will prepare us for the future happenings. Instead, we must unite in prayer that this pandemic will end soon and let us continue with our ministries and increase the level of our performances to an excellent service for an excellent God!
