Do not say, “I will repay evil”; Wait for the LORD, and He will save you. (Proverbs 20:22)
Abba, our Father and God, Your mercy and grace is immeasurable. Though we became Your enemies when we were transgressors, You did not repay us with anger. Instead, You forgave us and bestowed upon us a new life that we can use to exalt Your mercy. As thanksgiving, we will strive to have mercy like Yours. With how You took mercy upon us, that is how we will be merciful upon those who will sin against us. Always place in our heart and mind that everything happens with Your consent, even the bad things our enemies do to hurt us. Help us keep ourselves from seeking to repay evil on those that hurt us. May we entrust everything to You. We are not asking for You to repay evil on those who hurt us. Rather, may You bless and have mercy on them. Let them have faith in Your commandments, so they, due to love, may do good things to others instead of doing evil. With this, they will give praise to Your holy name, Christ Jesus, our God and Savior. Amen.
